Yu Darvish's First MLB Inning Did Not Go Very Well

The eyes of Texas, Japan and baseball fans everywhere were on the Ballpark in Arlington for Yu Darvish's first MLB start.

His first inning ... did not exactly go according to plan.

Struggling mightily with his command, Darvish walked three batters and had another advance on a wild pitch, as the Japanese import gave up 4 earned runs in 1 inning.

All told, after one inning of work, his ERA is currently 36.00.

And while the Seattle Mariners are hardly the 1927 New York Yankees, they sure looked impressive against Darvish, with Chone Figgins, Ichiro Suzuki, Justin Smoak, Kyle Seager and Miguel Olivo all getting hits in the first.

Perhaps the best sign for Rangers fans is that Darvish battled through the inning, despite clearly being overcome by the pressure of the moment, as he struck out Brendan Ryan and got Figgins to ground out to end the inning.
