Texas has to leave the friendly confines of UFCU Disch-Falk Field for the first time in over two weeks Friday night, after they completed a 7-2 homestand with a 4-2 win over Central Arkansas on Tuesday. The Longhorns' destination? College Station, where Texas A&M awaits, eager to at least win this weekend's series and tie up Texas for second place in the Big 12 standings.
Friday night 'Horns coach Augie Garrido will start Nathan Thornhill (4-3, 3.73) against Aggies rightie Michael Wacha (5-0, 2.48), a junior who is pitching well enough to garner buzz as a possible first overall pick in this June's Major League draft. The A&M offense has been solid this year, too, averaging 6.17 runs/game, and putting up a .382 OBP, good for fourth in the Big 12.
Games on Saturday (2:30 p.m.) and Sunday (2 p.m.) will be played in Austin.
