The SMU Mustangs haven't kicked off the spring football season on high note with losing two of their best players to suspensions. According Mustangs beat writer Laken Litman, SMU head coach June Jones suspended wide receiver Darius Johnson and linebacker Taylor Reed until further notice, with no indication of what the exact reason is. Litman said that Jones did leave the door open for possible academic issues.

Jones wouldn't say why he suspended the two, but hinted at academics: "Gotta take care of business," he said. "Not just football."
