The 2012 Masters field has been finalized with 92 golfers taking part in this year's first major tournament. The field consists of past Masters champions, winners of past PGA Tour events and golfers ranked in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings.
Four Dallas-area players are participating in this year's event in Hunter Mahan, Harrison Frazar, Ryan Palmer, Scott Verplank.
Of those four, Mahan is coming in hot since he won the 2012 Shell Houston Open over Carl Pettersson by one stroke. Mahan has not competed in the Masters since 2009 and that year he finished tied for 10th. Frazar is an experienced PGA Tour pro but the 2012 Masters is his first time playing at Augusta, and he qualified by winning the inaugural FedEx St. Jude Classic this past year, which also was his first-ever PGA Tour win.
Palmer is playing in his fourth Masters this year and it will be his third in a row. Last year Palmer had a great run at Augusta and finished 10th. Verplank has had minimal success at the Masters and has not played since 2010 where he finished tied for 18th, and his best Masters finish came in 2003 where he finished tied for eighth.
