Baylor's Brittney Griner Passes On Team USA Invite

So far, Baylor Bears basketball star Brittney Griner has pretty much accomplished everything a women's player can at the collegiate level. Well, everything but help Team USA win a gold medal in the Olympics, and it seems that goal will need to wait until 2016.

The 6-foot-8 center has decided to pass on the opportunity to become the 12th and finale member of the '12 Olympic team citing family and school as the reason.

“Because of a family illness and my school schedule during the summer, I have told USA Basketball Women’s National Team Director, Carol Callan, that I will be unable to participate this summer,” Griner said in a statement released by the school. “’’I am disappointed that I will be unable to participate, but I want to stay involved in USA Basketball and hope to again have the opportunity to represent my country in future international competition.”
