Mississippi Valley State took advantage of 12 first half turnovers by Jackson State to grab a 34-29 halftime lead in the 2012 SWAC Tournament.
Jackson State actually shot 50 percent from the field going 11-22 but had 11 fewer attempts thanks to those 12 turnovers. Kelsey Howard leads the way for the Tigers with eight points while Jonathan Lewis finished with six. Travis Ballard and Ramond Gregory finished with three points each.
Paul Crosby also has eight points at the half to lead Mississippi Valley State. Brent Arrington added six points and five steals while Terrence Joyner finished with five. The Delta Devils hit 39 percent of its shots but recorded eight steals, came up with four offensive rebounds and only turned the ball over four times to build a slight lead at the break.
