The semifinal matchups are set for the 2012 Sun Belt Tournament with the first game having North Texas taking on No. 9 seed Arkansas State. Arkansas State made it to the semifinals by upsetting conference champion Middle Tennessee St. Blue Raiders by a score of 64-61.
North Texas and Arkansas State have played twice this season with each team winning once on their home court.
The other semifinal matchup is between the Denver Pioneers and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. Denver was able to get past the South Alabama Jaguars 61-50 with a balanced scoring attack with Brian Stafford and Rob Lewis each scoring 14 points.
Western Kentucky was the No. 7 seed and upset No. 2 seed Arkansas Little Rock 68-63 thanks to 23 points by Derrick Gordon.
