North Texas Vs. Louisiana-Lafayette Final Score: Mean Green Defeat Ragin' Cajuns, 65-62 Advance To Semifinals

In a tough opening-round game, North Texas was able to sneak by Louisiana-Lafayette 65-62, advancing to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

The Mean Green won with a balanced offensive attack, as four different players scored in double digits, with junior guard Brandan Walton leading the way with 16.

While Tony Mitchell, North Texas' star freshman power forward, had only five points, he dominated the interior of the lane for most of the game, with 11 rebounds and 6 blocks.

Walton hit a three-pointer with eight seconds left to give the Mean Green a 65-62 lead, but the game wasn't decided until Josh Brown's three-point attempt didn't go down in the game's final moments.

After an inconsistent 16-12 regular season, things are all of a sudden looking way up for North Texas, as regular season champion Middle Tennessee State, whom they were set to meet in the next round, was upset by No, 9 seed Arkansas State 64-61.

Their semifinal match-up will be at 6:00 PM Monday.
