Baylor's Brittney Griner Named AP Player Of The Year, Kim Mulkey Named Coach Of The Year

The Lady Baylor Bears basketball team is in Denver for the Final Four and is looking to cap off an undefeated season, so it makes sense that their best player Brittney Griner was named the Associated Press player of the year:

"It's an honor," said Griner, who became the first Baylor player to win the award. "We have a great year going and for it to be the perfect season for me, we've got to win the national championship."

Griner is a two-time All-American and received 36 of the 40 votes the other votes went to Delaware's Elena Delle Donne who received two votes while Notre Dame's Skylar Diggins and Stanford's Nnemkadi Ogwumike each earned a vote.

This season Griner averaged 23.4 points, 9.4 rebounds and 5.2 blocks this season as well as shooting 61 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line.

Griner's coach Kim Mulkey was named the coach of the year by the associated press:

"I'm honored, but truthfully, I'm only as good as the kids I get to coach," Mulkey said. "I'm blessed they are on my team, they make you look good."
