College football season may be five months away, but the good folks over at SB Nation are already churning out season previews.
↵On Friday, Bill Connelly took a look at North Texas, which is going into its second year under former Iowa State coach Dan McCarney:
↵↵↵The main issue for 2012 is pretty simple: the Mean Green lost 27 seniors from last year's squad, and though it initially seems like all 27 were defensive backs, there are quite a few interesting players to replace. The Mean Green are rather deep in the trenches, and they have a few different experienced quarterbacks from which to choose, but treading water might be a nice result this fall.

As Connelly points out in the article, former coaches in BCS conferences with at least a modicum of prior success are one of the safest hires for a program.
↵However, with so little experience coming back, McCarney may need to wait until 2013 before he can make a serious run at a Sun Belt conference title.
