Instead of wasting your time, the important paragraph:
↵↵↵According to two major league sources, the Rangers are on the verge of signing lefty Derek Holland to a deal for at least five guaranteed years. The deal will supersede the one-year deal Holland agreed to at the start of spring training and would carry through at least the 2016 season. As it stands now, Holland, 25, would be eligible for free agency after 2015.
↵
This is nothing incredible, but it is nice news. Holland already looked like he was unlocking his top of the rotation talent in 2011, and is just no entering what should be the prime of his career. This deal would keep him here through most of what should be his peak, putting him in Ranger blue (or red) for an extra year, while avoiding arbitration.
↵How great the extension looks will depend on the money involved, but this is a nice sign to send you to bed with. Or maybe wake you up with. Good morning!
