2012 Dallas Marathon: Events, time and schedule for the weekend

The Dallas Marathon is ready to run on Sunday morning, and its additional races and events get underway as the weekend begins.

The 2012 Dallas Marathon is set to run on Sunday morning, and its many surrounding events and races will begin on Friday and roll through the weekend.

The marathon itself gets underway at 8:05 a.m. CT and the start for participants in wheelchairs begins at 7:55 a.m. The finish line officially closes at 3 p.m.

Also around 8 a.m., the half marathon, five-person relay and Corporate Relay Challenge also kickoff on Sunday morning. In each relay scenario, members of respective running teams need to go between four and 6.5 miles before allowing another team member to take over.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, the Mayor's Race 5K and Fun Run begins. The Fun Run, which is roughly a mile-long race, is followed by the 3.1-mile Mayor's Race at 9:30 a.m.

Beginning on Friday and going through Saturday, a Health and Fitness Expo will be open for runners to pick up racing packets, but there will also be vendors on hand to discuss the industries of fitness, health and running.
