Although they haven't made a big move in the free-agent signing period just yet, the Texas Rangers did take care of some unfinished business. They sent Wilfredo Boscan to the San Diego Padres in exchange for Cory Burns. The Rangers acquired Burns from the Padres on Nov. 28 for a player to be named later.

Boscan spent his 2012 season with the Rangers AA affiliate in Frisco. He went 7-5 and finished the season with 89 strikeouts and 28 walks over 34 games and nine starts. Boscan has spent six seasons in the Rangers minor leagues with a 4.00 earned run average over 139 appearances including 102 starts.

Burns appeared in 17 games for the Padres last season. He finished the year with a 5.50 earned run average over 18 innings of work with 18 strikeouts and 11 walks. He also gave up 26 hits, amassing a 2.00 WHIP on the season.
