The Mavericks' struggles continued on Thursday and Friday as Dallas dropped both games to move to a season worst three games below .500.
Thursday, Dec. 20
Miami Heat 110, Dallas Mavericks 95
Six players scored in double digits for the Mavericks on Thursday night, but O.J. Mayo went cold from behind the arc and the Dallas defense had no answer for the Miami scoring attack. Mayo scored only eight points on 3-of-14 shooting. He was 0-for-5 from three-point territory. Defensively, Dallas allowed the Heat to shoot a torrid 54 percent from the field, led by an efficient 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting from LeBron James.
Friday, Dec. 21
Memphis Grizzlies 92, Dallas Mavericks 82
Friday night proved to be much of the same story for Dallas. Mayo continued to struggle, scoring 10 points on 3-of-11 shooting. Shawn Marion and Vince Carter led the scoring with only 14 points. However, the defense was not the issue Saturday night. Instead, turnovers became the main problem as the Mavericks turned the ball over 22 times compared to only 20 assists.
