For two teams down on their luck and licking wounds, an even spread seems fitting as the Cowboys travel to Philadelphia to face their division rivals. The teams have combined for just one win since Week 4, and are both coming off prime-time defeats to NFC South opponents. The Eagles looked lost against the Saints in their 28-13 defeat in New Orleans on Monday, while the Cowboys failed to upset the undefeated Falcons in their Sunday night game.
While both Tony Romo and Michael Vick have come under fire for their performances this season, it is Eagles head coach Andy Reid whose job appears to be at stake. His team has covered in just five of the six games the Eagles have been favored, the lone win coming in a 19-17 defeat of the Giants in Week 4. The Cowboys haven't fared well against the spread either, with their 3-5 record against it matching their actual record.
The total of 44.5 seems high for an Eagles team that averages under 40 combined points per game and a Cowboys squad that averages just over 41. The line seems to be anticipating the win-or-die nature of this game, with both team's seasons squarely at stake.
