Cowboys vs. Falcons 2012: Talent not translating to wins

The Dallas Cowboys are entering a soft spot in their schedule, but it won't matter if they can't turn their talent into wins.

The Dallas Cowboys came close to handing the Atlanta Falcons their first loss of the season on Sunday, but fell short in the end as Atlanta stuck out the game for a 19-13 win. Dallas had kept it close, tied up as late as the end of the third quarter, but couldn't overcome a gang of mistakes in the end. The loss dropped the talented but shaky Cowboys down to 3-5 on the season.

Going into the next section of their schedule, the Cowboys were supposed to be on the easy part of the season. Unfortunately for them, as pointed out by Dallas blog Blogging The Boys, that soft part of their schedule might just feature the Cowboys as a soft spot on other team schedules as well over that stretch. The team's talent just isn't turning into wins, which could make the soft part of the schedule a lot less soft:

Five consecutive games against opponents that are under .500 looks promising until you remember that Dallas is one of those teams as well. A road date at rival Philly is next on the schedule and the Cowboys obviously have had issues with that team. This is a team with some talent, but they clearly don't know how to turn it into wins.

Dallas will have to regroup over the week, as they face off against a division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, next Sunday.
