After what could have turned into a wildly disappointing season, the Texas Longhorns have rattled off four straight wins in conference play. Their most recent win was a breeze past an inferior Iowa State team that helped them maintain their spot at No. 18 in SB Nation's BlogPoll. Games against TCU and Kansas State remain, with the latter providing Texas an opportunity to move up further in the polls.
Before the Iowa State win, Texas beat Texas Tech last Saturday and knocked the Red Raiders from the Top 25. On the outside looking in, Tommy Tuberville's team had a shot at redemption but was soundly defeated by Oklahoma State 59-21. The win bumped the Okie State Cowboys up three spots to No. 22 in the poll.
In other Big 12 action, Oklahoma retained their spot at No. 13 with a squeaker over West Virginia. Previously undefeated Kansas State saw their No. 2 ranking disappear after being bowled over by the Baylor Bears. They settled in to the No. 5 spot.
In addition to Kansas State, undefeated Oregon also went down, losing to Stanford 17-14 in overtime. The Ducks had held the top spot in the rankings heading into the weekend but have been relegated to the No. 3 spot in favor of new No.1 Notre Dame and No. 2 Alabama.
