Even before it was announced that TCU starting QB Casey Pachall would miss the rest of the season after enrolling in an in-patient rehab center, Baylor was an -8 point home favorite over TCU on Saturday.
Without Pachall, the Frogs offense struggled mightily in their 37-23 home loss to Iowa State, with backup QB Trevon Boykin throwing for 3 INT's.
Pachall's absence will put even more pressure on a TCU defense that was lit up by Jared Barnett last Saturday and will have an even steeper challenge against Nick Florence and a high-powered Baylor offense.
Florence has had no trouble filling in for RG3, and he is coming off a preposterous performance against West Virginia two weeks ago: completing 29-47 passes for 581 yards, 5 TD's and 1 INT.
However, the Bears lost that game thanks to a defense that was utterly unable to stop Geno Smith, as the Mountaineers scored 70 points.
If Pachall, who was one of the highest-rated QB's in the nation before his suspension, had been able to play, there may have well been a reprise of that shootout on Saturday. Even without him, the over/under is still at 68.
The question will be how much Boykin, only a redshirt freshman, can improve in his second game as the Frogs starting QB.
