MLS Standings 2012: FC Dallas in 6th, playoff dreams slipping

FC Dallas were in control of some of their own destiny against Chivas USA, but ended up losing ground to the Vancouver Whitecaps and are still in sixth place in the Western Conference.

Blas Perez gave Dallas an early lead over the Goats in their third-to-last game of the season, but they couldn't find a second goal all game and gave up a late equalizer, coming close to losing in the end as Chivas peppered them with shots of their own.

Getting only the one point from that game instead of three made the playoff scenario simple: Dallas must get two straight results of some sort or they're out. With two games to go, they are four points behind the suddenly upstart Vancouver Whitecaps. Vancouver must lose at least one of their final two games while Dallas must get points in both of theirs to at least force it to go to tiebreakers.

Dallas will finish their season against the Seattle Sounders before finishing with another match against Chivas USA. Vancouver will play the Portland Timbers and Real Salt Lake in their final two games of the season.
