Rangers vs. Orioles AL wild card game score: Texas trails Baltimore 2-1

Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish pitched five strong innings against the Baltimore Orioles, but a lack of Rangers run support and an Adam Jones sacrifice fly in the sixth inning leaves Texas trailing Baltimore, 2-1, after the top of the sixth.

Baltimore first scored in the first inning when short stop J.J. Hardy drove in left fielder Nate McLouth. Darvish had given up only those two hits through five, but Baltimore put together a series of hits in the sixth inning. After Jones' sacrifice fly brought home Hardy in the top of the sixth, the Rangers held an extended conference on the mound before deciding to leave Darvish in the game. Darvish got Baltimore's Matt Wieters to fly out and struck out Jim Thome to escape the inning.

The Rangers have been held scoreless since the first, when left fielder Josh Hamilton grounded into a double play, but brought home second baseman Ian Kinsler. Texas threatened to score in the fourth, but ended up leaving Nelson Cruz stranded at third as Geovany Soto grounded into a fielder's choice to end the inning.

The Rangers have not lacked opportunities, as Baltimore's Joe Saunders has allowed a total of six hits through five innings of work, but Texas has failed to capitalize.
