2012 Conference USA football standings: SMU moves up in West

SMU picked up a big win over Houston Saturday, and the Mustangs are now tied with the Cougars for second place in Conference USA's West Division.

The SMU Mustangs rolled to a 72-42 win over Houston Saturday, improving to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in Conference USA play. With the win, SMU moved into a tie with the Cougars for second place in the C-USA Western Division.

Tulsa won its seventh game in a row by pulling out a squeaker against Rice, 28-24. The Golden Hurricane sit atop C-USA West at 7-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play. Tulsa hasn't lost since falling to Iowa State, 38-23, in Week 1. UTEP (2-6, 1-3) picked up its first conference win of the season by knocking off Tulane (1-6, 1-2), 24-20.

In the Eastern Division, Central Florida (5-2, 3-0) remained unbeaten in conference games with a 35-17 win over Memphis (1-6, 1-2). East Carolina (5-3, 4-1) kept UAB (1-6, 0-3) winless in C-USA games with a 42-35 victory.

The Blazers are one of the teams looking for their first conference win. Joining UAB is Rice (2-6, 0-4) and Southern Miss (0-7, 0-3).
