UNT vs. UL-Lafayette Score Update: Mean Green down, 6-0, after first quarter

New, 1 comment

A methodical 14-play TD drive by Terrance Broadway and the UL-Lafayette offense was the difference in the first quarter, as the Ragin' Cajuns (real name) got out to a 6-0 lead over North Texas in the game's first 12 minutes. They did not convert the extra point.

Broadway, a transfer from the University of Houston, completed 10-of-11 passes for 102 yards in the first quarter. An athletic 6'2, 205-pound dual-threat QB with a strong arm, he looks more talented than most of the Sun Belt-caliber players on the field.

His favorite targets have been Darryl Surgent (2 catches for 30 yards) and Harry Peoples (5 catches for 41 yards), as the duo have been easily beating the Mean Green defensive backs in one-on-one coverage.

North Texas, meanwhile, has struggled to get much offense going, with Will Atterberry getting off three punts already. Derek Thompson has completed 3-of-6 passes for only 35 yards, looking unsure of himself in the pocket and missing open receivers.

The Mean Green need to establish a running game for Thompson to play off of, but they've rushed for only 7 yards on 6 carries so far.
