Andy Dalton Will Start His First Preseason Game For The Bengals

This shouldn't surprise anyone, given that Carson Palmer hasn't returned to the Bengals fold, but Marvin Lewis has announced that Andy Dalton will be his starter in their first preseason game Friday.

The Bengals may keep Dalton and the first team on the field longer than usual, according to Lewis. Cincinnati is in the process of learning a new West Coast offense.

"We haven't had all the offseason work that you normally would have," Lewis said. "So I think we need to play together as a football team on both sides of the ball."

It must be quite the whirlwind for Dalton - not getting any coaching all summer after being taken in the second round, then being shoved out as the starting QB after two weeks of training camp, but we heard over and over in the spring that one of the things NFL teams loved about him was his polish.

Dalton will be throwing to elite prospect A.J. Green and second year guy and former Longhorn Jordan Shipley and handing off to Cedric Benson, so it should be quite the scene.
