Merle Haggard's 'That's The Way Baseball Go' Now Available On iTunes

Merle Haggard's recording of "That's The Way Baseball Go," which was conceived of and written by Rangers co-chairman Bob Simpson, his wife Janice, along with Jim Hodges and Jackson Yandell, is now available on iTunes for download. The song is 2:59 long and costs $0.99. You can hear a 90 second preview of the song via the above link. The Rangers say that Simpson's share of the revenues will be donated to the Texas Rangers Foundation, which benefits children in need.

Haggard recorded the song last month and performed it at Rangers Ballpark over the weekend. It's a take-off of Haggard's song "That's The Way Life Goes" and is apparently meant as a tribute to Ron Washington and his poor grammar. During the NBA playoffs, as the Mavericks were on their way to their first NBA title, their video production folks recorded local sports greats offering their encouragement. That video, titled The Ultimate Opportunity, also concluded with Wash tossing out his trademark line.
