Preseason College Football Rankings 2011: Oklahoma Leads Coaches Poll

Oklahoma leads the way in the new USA Today college football coaches poll released Thursday. Texas A&M (No. 8), Oklahoma St. (No. 9) and Texas (No. 24) also made the poll.

The college football preseason USA Today Coaches poll has been released, and Oklahoma is ranked No. 1. The Sooners received 42 of 59 first place voted and was followed by Alabama (13 first place votes), Oregon (2), LSU (2) and Florida St. Stanford, Boise St., Oklahoma St., Texas A&M and Nebraska round out the top ten.

TCU, who will break in a new QB after their stellar Rose Bowl winning, No. 2 ranked season, open at No. 14. Last season's national champions, the Auburn Tigers, open at No. 19 after losing Cam Newton.

After a 5-7 season in which Texas failed to reach a bowl for the first time in Mack Brown's tenure, the Longhorns slid into the preseason poll at No. 24. Those rankings give the revamped Big 12 three of the top nine and a total of four ranked teams. The SEC leads the way with eight. No other Big 12 teams were among the 25 "Others receiving votes."
