FC Dallas dominated play in triple digit temperatures in Frisco Thursday night, coming away with another 1-0 win over Salvadorian side Alianza FC. The win gave Dallas a 2-0 aggregate score in the qualifier and advanced them to the CONCACAF Champions League group stage.
Temperature at kickoff was a sweltering 107 degrees, and Dallas pressured Alianza until Ugo Ihemelu scored off of a Ricardo Villar corner to provide all of the offense Dallas would need.
Coach Schellas Hyndman was satisfied with his club’s work in adverse conditions.
We are very proud of our team and this accomplishment. Alianza is a very worthy opponent and it was great to come away with a historic victory. This is a great moment for this organization.
Dallas joins co-favorites PUMAS UNAM, as well as MLS side Toronto FC and Panamanians Tauro FC in Group C. The top two from the group will proceed to the knockout stage. This is Dallas’ first experience in a CCL group stage.
