Mitch Moreland led the Rangers to a 7-4 victory over the White Sox on Friday night as he smacked a pair of homers to lead Texas' offensive attack. Saturday's starter Alexi Ogando will hope for a repeat performance from Moreland and the offense as Ogando looks for his 13th win of the season as the Rangers take on the White Sox in game two of their three game set.
Ogando enters the contest with a 12-5 record to go along with a 3.33 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and .231 average against. Ogando's excellence has certainly been a pleasant surprise for the Rangers, and certainly one of the reasons Texas sits comfortably six games ahead of the second place Los Angeles Angels as we head towards the stretch run.
Texas will face off against lefty hurler John Danks, who brings a 5-9 record into the game. Danks, though, is proof that records mean little for pitchers as he's certainly not pitched as bad as a 5-9 record would indicate. Danks hasn't been spectacular, but does carry a 3.95 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and .270 average against into the contest.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. CDT from US Cellular Field.
