Jered Weaver Unhappy After Another Home Run

Jered Weaver had a minor run-in after allowing another important home run Thursday night. Richard Durrett recounts the incident:

After Mike Napoli hit his long solo homer in the seventh to break a scoreless tie, he took a few seconds to watch it and then headed to first base. Angels starter Jered Weaver, not a fan of batters admiring homers — as we’ve seen this season — stared at Napoli as he started his trot.

Weaver appeared to say something to Napoli and Napoli appeared to bark back after the inning. Napoli knew Weaver wasn’t thrilled with him, but didn’t hear what was said.

“‘What, you can’t hit homers off him now?” Napoli said.

As Durrett notes, Weaver downplayed the incident with media members after the game, and, unlike his episode with the Tigers, didn’t do anything that would warrant a suspension.
