Rangers Blow Ninth Inning Lead, Fail To Sweep Angels

The Rangers were three outs away from sweeping the Angels in Anaheim, but with closer Neftali Feliz unable to pitch after closing four games in five days (and warming up in the other) Mike Adams took the ball in the ninth. A Torii Hunter single and a Mark Trumbo walk-off home run followed, and the Rangers lost their shutout and their chance at a road sweep over their division rivals.

Mike Napoli had supplied the Rangers’ one run in the seventh inning with a long home run, as the Rangers had sent Jered Weaver packing with a deficit. Colby Lewis threw seven shutout innings, and Mark Lowe pitched a perfect eighth with two strikeouts.

The Rangers move on to Chicago for a weekend series with the White Sox. First pitch Friday is at 6:10 CDT with Matt Harrison squaring off against Jake Peavy.
