Jerry Jones: Nnamdi Asomugha Wanted To Go To Dallas

I'm not sure what the point is in declaring this now, weeks after Nnamdi Asomugha decided to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles, but Jerry Jones decided to let everyone know over the weekend that the elite corner really wanted to sign with the Cowboys

We had known that he really wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy. And that's a fact. There, for about an hour, I thought he was going to be a Dallas Cowboy. You do that because you can do it and should do it, and take advantage of the opportunity. We obviously wanted him or we wouldn't have been in the $10 million and up range to get him.

I suppose he thought that this would be some kind of solace for Cowboys fans as we hope the two returning starters at corner, both of whom had poor 2010 seasons, can get healthy in time to begin the season. Mike Jenkins is close to full strength but is still affected by his shoulder stinger, while Terence Newman is in a race to be ready - with next to zero practice time in Rob Ryan's new system - for the opener in New York.
