Derek Holland, Rangers Look To Sweep Mariners

Thanks Josh Hamilton's walk off single, which capped come from behind victory on Tuesday night, the Texas Rangers are in position to sweep the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night as the Rangers look for their fourth straight victory.

Derek Holland will get the start for the Rangers as he looks to improve his record to 11-4. Holland, who hadn't allowed an earned run in either of his previous two starts, gave up six runs (four earned) in just one and two thirds innings of work during his most recent outing against the Cleveland Indians. Holland's numbers on the season reflect his inconsistency: a 4.35 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and .269 BAA.

It will be imperative for Holland to go deep into Wednesday's contest as Texas was forced to use five arms out of their bullpen in Tuesday's win over the Mariners.

Texas' offense will face off against Jason Vargas of the Mariners. Vargas has pitched well this year, posting a 4.02 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. Vargas hasn't struck out many batters this year - just 95 in 145.2 innings - so expect lots of balls in play for Texas' offense tonight.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
