NCAA Baseball Regional Scores: Dallas Baptist Patriots Advance To Super Regionals After Beating Oral Roberts

In one of the more unlikely NCAA Baseball Regional matchups, the Dallas Baptist Patriots defeated the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles 11-9 to advance to the Super Regionals.

The Patriots jumped on the board early, scoring eight times in the first inning, with eight runs (though only five earned) being charged to Oral Roberts' starter, Alex Gonzalez. Despite being staked to such a lead, Dallas Baptist starter Jordan Staples couldn't record an out in the bottom half of the frame, exiting after giving up two hits and two walks - all runners would score, and the Golden Eagles had cut the Patriots' lead to 8-4.

The Patriots, though, would add three more runs in the third inning, boosting their lead to 11-4. Oral Roberts would chip away, scoring two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings before adding one more in the seventh, but never drew closer after that, losing 11-9 to Dallas Baptist.

The Patriots will now face the California Golden Bears in the Super Regionals, with Game 1 of a three game series being held on Saturday.
