NCAA Baseball Regionals: Texas Vs. Texas State

The Texas Longhorns find themselves in a position they didn't want to be in as hosts of the NCAA Baseball Regionals: an elimination game. A loss on Saturday night to Kent State has put the Longhorns in a must-win position against Texas State on Sunday.

Texas fell 7-5 on Saturday, despite having ace Taylor Jungmann on the mound. Jungmann was roughed up, allowing seven runs in five and two thirds innings of work. Texas trailed 7-2 until the ninth inning where the Longhorns' comeback attempt was thwarted and they eventually lost 7-5.

Texas State, meanwhile, defeated Princeton and eliminated them from the tournament on Saturday. Texas State had lost on Friday, the opening day of the regionals, to Kent State 4-2 before eliminating Princeton with a 3-1 victory on Saturday.

The winner of the Texas/Texas State game will be taking on Kent State on Sunday night, with Kent State needing just one win to advance to the Super Regionals.

First pitch is scheduled for for 1 p.m. CDT.
