NCAA Baseball Regionals: Texas Loses To Kent State

The top-seeded team in the Austin bracket lost on Saturday, as the Texas Longhorns fell to Kent State 7-5.

Longhorns ace Taylor Jungmann was roughed up, giving up seven runs in 5.2 innings of work, on eight hits and two walks while striking out three.

The Longhorns were trailing 7-2 headed into the ninth inning when they put together a rally to cut the deficit to 7-5. Unfortunately for Texas, the rally did not end happily as Kyle McMillen came in to get the one-out save for Kent State.

Andrew Chafin started the game for Kent State, pitching 8.2 innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks. Chafin struck out eight in the game en route to the win.

The Longhorns will now face off against Texas State, needing a win to further advance in the regionals. That game will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. CDT in Austin.
