In the Houston Regional of the NCAA Baseball Tournament, the No. 1 and No. 2 teams are set to face off on Saturday night. The top-seeded Rice Owls will play host to the No. 2 seed Baylor Bears as both the Owls and the Bears look to move one win closer to advancing to the Super Regionals.
Rice routed Alcorn State on Friday, winning with ease 14-2. Rice's offensive onslaught featured 22 hits and six walks en route to the 14 runs. Rice only used one pitcher in the contest as well, as Abe Gonzales went the distance for the Owls.
Baylor, meanwhile, jumped out to a 6-0 lead on California, and barely hung on for a 6-4 win. The Bears scored in each of the first three innings, leading 6-0 after three. California proved to be resilient, though, cutting the deficit to two, but Baylor managed to hang on for the win.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. CDT.
