Wimbledon 2011 Scores: Maria Sharapova Advances To Finals

Maria Sharapova advanced to the Wimbledon finals on Thursday for the first time since 2004 as she defeated Sabine Lisicki 6-4, 6-3. Sharapova dropped the first three games of the first set before battling back to defeat Lisicki in straight sets - something she has done throughout the entire tournament so far as Sharapova has yet to lose a set this year in Wimbledon.

Sharapova will be opposed by Petra Kvitova, who upset Victoria Azarenka in three sets on Thursday. Kvitova won the match 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 to advance to the final to take on Sharapova. Kvitova dominated the match despite needing three sets, hitting 40 winners to Azarenka's nine. Kvitova also had nine aces compared to Azarenka's two, but also had double the amount of unforced errors (14 to seven).

The Ladies final between Sharapova and Kvitova will be held on Saturday, with many believing that Wimbledon is Sharapova's to lose at this point.

The Gentlemen will resume play on Friday with their semifinals, with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga taking on the Joker, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal taking on Andy Murray.
