Wimbledon 2011 Scores: Roger Federer Upset

For the first time in his prestigious career, Roger Federer lost in a Grand Slam event after winning the first two sets. The all-time great was upset by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Wednesday, 3-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

Federer's loss to the tenth seeded Tsonga is certainly surprising, especially given that Federer was up two sets. It's not earth shattering, though, since it was the quarterfinals after all and Federer is not the player he was three years ago anymore.

The other top-seeded players on the Gentleman's side advanced - with top seeded Rafael Nadal knocking off American Mardy Fish in four sets, 6-3, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic needed four sets to win as well, defeating Bernard Tomic 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 to advance to the semifinals. Fourth-seeded Andy Murray defeated Feliciano Lopez in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

The Gentleman will resume play on Friday, while the Ladies will have their semifinal matches on Thursday - with Maria Sharapova taking on Sabine Lisicki and Victoria Azarenka taking on Petra Kvitova.
