The Texas Longhorns find themselves once again with their backs up against the wall on Monday, as they face the North Carolina Tar Heels in the first elimination game of the 2011 College World Series.
Both North Carolina and Texas played on the World Series' opening day on Saturday, and both promptly lost - and lost by four runs each. North Carolina was upset by Vanderbilt, losing 7-3. The Tar Heels scored only three runs despite cracking out 11 hits and drawing seven walks.
The Longhorns, meanwhile, lost 8-4 to Florida - and had less offensive success than North Carolina did, despite the fact that North Carolina did outscore Texas. The Longhorns scored their four runs on five hits, without drawing a single walk against the Gators.
The Longhorns will have to come up with more than five baserunners against the Tar Heels if they are to avoid elimination in the College World Series.
First pitch between the Tar Heels and Longhorns is scheduled for 1 p.m. CDT. Televised coverage can be found on ESPN.
