Women's College World Series: Baylor Tops Oklahoma State

The Baylor Bears' men's basketball team may have disappointed, failing to garner a bid to either the NCAA or NIT tournaments, but the Lady Bears are doing Baylor proud in the Women's College World Series. The Bears topped the Cowgirls 1-0 in extra innings (eight) to open play in the Women's College World Series.

Whitney Canion pitched an eight inning complete game for the Bears, and was dominating in the process. Canion allowed only three hits and walked two while striking out 10 Cowgirls en route to the 1-0 victory.

While Canion was magnificent, the hero for the Bears may have been catcher Kelsi Kettler, who broke the scoreless game in the eighth inning with a walk off home run off of Oklahoma State's Kat Espinosa.

Espinosa, like Canion, pitched well - but just not well enough. She allowed only the one run on the walk off homer, four hits, one walk and struck out five.

The Bears will take on Alabama on Friday at 6 p.m. CDT. Televised coverage can be found on ESPN and ESPN3.com.
