Day One of the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth is in the books, and Americans David Toms and Chez Reavie lead the way at -8. Reavie looks for his second PGA victory, while Toms looks for his first win since the Sony Open in January of 2006. Rickie Fowler is one off the pace, while Stewart Cink, Brendon de Jonge, Nathan Green, who lives in Plano, and Brian Gay, who was born in Fort Worth, highlight a group of five tied for fourth at -6. Rod Pampling, another local resident, is on the first page of the leaderboard at -5.
Among those looming at -4 is Adam Scott, whose last two PGA wins came in Texas. He won across town at the Byron Nelson in 2008 and then at the Valero Open in San Antonio in 2010. Scott also finished in a tie for second with Australian compatriot Jason Day (+1) - whose one win came the Nelson, his home course, last year - at the Masters last month. Sergio Garcia and Henrick Stenson also sit at -4.
Local residents Hunter Mahan, Anthony Kim and Rory Sabbatini sit at -3, -3 and -2. Mark Brooks, whose last win was the 1996 PGA Championship and who has never won on his home town course, finished his round at -1. John Daly is at even par.
