Taylor Jungmann moved to 9-0 and recorded his 300th strikeout Thursday as the No. 7 Longhorns took the first two in their weekend set with Kansas. The Jayhawks bounced back Saturday for a 4-2 win. Jungmann completed eight scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. The seventh of his nine strikeouts moved him past the 300 mark for his career, which still has another month at a minimum. A 4-5 game by Brandon Loy led the way offensively, and the Horns cruised 9-0.
Friday was a similar story, as Cole Green threw seven scoreless himself and Tant Shepherd took his turn going 4-5 in a 9-1 win. Sam Stafford wasn't so lucky Saturday, lasting just 3.1 innings and allowing three runs. Four Jayhawks pitchers limited Texas to two runs and seven hits.
The series win wasn't enough to maintain a share of the conference lead, as No. 6 Texas A&M swept No. 17 Oklahoma State. The Aggies outscored the Cowboys 24-4 in the series and were led by Jon Stilson's sterling complete game Friday night. He struck out 12 and walked none, allowing just two unearned runs on four hits. Michael Wacha allowed just an unearned run himself in 6.2 innings Saturday.
Meanwhile, No. 11 TCU swept their own series against UNLV, as Kyle Winkler threw a complete game six-hitter Thursday, filling in for the injured Matt Purke.
