Houston Rockets After Mavericks' Dwayne Casey In Coaching Search

The Houston Rockets have asked for permission to speak to Mavericks assistant coach Dwayne Casey for their vacant head coaching position.

Casey has been on the Mavericks' staff for the past three years and has been credited with the improved defensive performance of the Mavericks.

The Mavericks, sources said, will grant that permission but have told the Rockets that they'd like to delay the interview until after Dallas' first-round series with Portland at the earliest so as not to disrupt the team's playoff preparations.

Casey has been subject to interviews in all of his three seasons on the Mavericks' staff and he is bound to land another head coaching job eventually.

Hopefully, it''s coming off a championship run.
