NBA Playoffs: Dallas Mavericks Clinch Playoff Berth

The Dallas Mavericks beat the Golden State Warriors 101-73 earlier tonight and in the process clinched a playoff berth.

It was a relatively easy game for the Mavericks and the big story was the return of Peja Stojakovic. Stojakovic had missed the previous 6 games with a stiff neck and marked his return my hitting five threes on his way to 17 points.

While a playoff berth was all but certain, the playoff seeding is still up in the air.

As it stands right now, the Dallas Mavericks have the third seed in the West and would face the Portland Trailblazers in the first round. However, New Orleans is only a half game behind Portland for the sixth seed and Portland is a game behind Denver for the fifth seed. The Mavericks are also a game behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the second seed. They travel to Los Angeles on the 31st in a matchup that could very will determine the second seed in the Western conference.

Either way, it looks like the Mavericks are likely to face the Trailblazers or Hornets in the first round of the playoffs this year. Neither of which they've had much success against this season. But that's why they play the games.
