When I get predictions on the Super Bowl, I like to go to former players. I find that they just have a better perspective on the game than those of us who write blogs while wearing slippers and pajamas (I fall into that last category). But I'm not quite sure how I should feel about Dan Marino. He is, after all, one of the most famous players never to win a ring. And despite all of his accomplishments, that might be what he is most remembered for.
Having said that, he has forgotten more about football than I could ever hope to know, so I do put a lot of value in his words. Let's see what he has to say, via Fanhouse.
"I'm from Pittsburgh, so because of that, I want to see the Steelers win," Marino said. "But Green Bay, just the way they're playing offensively, they're like the hot team right now, so I'm going to pick them, but I want to see Pittsburgh win. For me, when you look at Green Bay, they've played real well through the playoffs but they only scored 14 points against Chicago because they scored on defense, too."
I'm not really sure what he's saying there, but I guess he's picking the Packers. Although he says that he's picking them because they're the hot team, then he explains that they didn't play that well on offense in their last game. So I'm not really sure what point he is trying to make. It's that kind of decision making that prevented Marino from winning a ring of his own (Kidding, I love Marino, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity for that sick burn).
