2011 NBA All-Star Game: Reserves To Be Selected Tonight, Dirk Nowitzki Should Be Slam Dunk

We learned the starters for the 2011 NBA All-Star Game - to be played on February 20 (on TNT) - last week, and tonight at 6:00 CT (also on TNT) we will learn the seven reserves for each roster. Kevin Durant (rightfully so) and Carmelo Anthony (somewhat inexplicably) were voted as starters ahead of Dirk Nowitzki, Blake Griffin and Kevin Love, leaving the three to vie for bench spots. Nowitzki and Griffin would seem to be locks for the two forward spots, while Love will likely have to contend with LaMarcus Aldridge for a wild card spot.

Dirk figures to be the lone Maverick in LA, as none of his teammates stand out as prime choices. There has been some support for Tyson Chandler at center, and he has legitimately been one of the best centers in the West on one of the top three teams, but his ten-and-nine line will likely not catch enough attention. One factor in Chandler's favor is that Yao Ming, voted the West's starting center, will be replaced on the roster due to injury.

This would be Nowitzki's tenth consecutive All-Star team, as he's made every roster since his fourth season in 2002. He won the 3-point shooting competition in 2006.
