Stars Trade Neal And Niskanen For Alex Goligoski

The Dallas Stars completed a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday, sending forward James Neal and defenseman Matt Niskanen to Pittsburgh in exchange for defenseman Alex Goligoski.

Goligoski has scored nine goals and racked up 31 points with the Penguins in 60 games thus far for Pittsburgh this year and should prove to add some offense from the defenseman position. Per TSN Canada:

Goligoski has nine goals and 31 points in 60 games with the Penguins this season, and led all Pittsburgh players with a plus-20 rating. The 25-year-old Goligoski is signed through next season with a cap hit of $1.83 million.

The Stars are losing one of their top scorers in the trade in the form of James Neal, who had trailed only Brenden Morrow and Brad Richards in scoring for the reeling Stars.

Dallas is currently mired in a four-game losing streak, and have lost ten of their last 12 games dating back to Dallas' 7-4 loss to the Flames in Calgary on Jan. 21.
