The Dallas Cowboys have the ninth overall pick in the upcoming draft, and with it, a chance to greatly improve by next season. SB Nation has been running out first-round mock drafts for over a month now, but today, it offers its first two-round mock draft. Let's see who it has the Cowboys taking in this tumultuous offseason.
In the first round of its latest mock draft, SB Nation has the Cowboys taking Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara. Here is its rationale:
In desperate need of a talent upgrade in their defensive backfield, Amukamara might be an instant starter at cornerback in Big D.
The general consensus around mock drafters (we have a giant water cooler that we all hang out near, metaphorically speaking) is that the Cowboys need a lot of help in the defensive secondary. There happen to be two top flight cornerback prospects in this draft, and I think the Cowboys would be willing to take either one of them if they are available when they pick.
In the second round, it has the Cowboys continuing to get help in the secondary by adding UCLA safety Rahim Moore.
Dallas is hurting at safety, too, and this is a nice value spot for Moore, the highest-upside safety available this year.
