Armed Forces Bowl Odds: BYU A One-Point Favorite

The two teams playing in the Dallas bowl game have combined to win 17 games this season.

In a match-up of two of the strongest non-AQ teams in the country, the 9-3 BYU Cougars are narrow -1 point favorites over the 8-4 Tulsa Golden Hurricane in the Armed Forces Bowl in Dallas.

With renovations underway on Amon Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, the game will be played at 11:00 AM Friday at the Gerald J. Ford Stadium on SMU's campus.

After a rough 1-2 start that included an embarrassing 54-10 loss to their in-state rival Utah, BYU turned their season around by inserting QB Riley Nelson into the starting line-up for the ineffective Jake Heaps, a five-star recruit who has since transferred to Kansas.

The Cougars went 7-1 with Nelson under center, as the 6'1 200 junior completed 61.1% of his passes for 1,467 yards, 16 TD's and 5 INT's.

Tulsa, meanwhile, is led by one of the most prolific QB's in the country, Texas transfer and three-year starter G.J. Kinner, who completed 64.1% of his passes for 2,876 yards, 25 TD's and 12 INT's.

All four of the Hurricane's losses this season came against top 10 opponents, as they dropped games to in-state rivals Oklahoma and Oklahoma State as well as two showdowns against non-BCS powers Boise State and Houston.

With two high-powered offenses squaring off, the odds-makers have set the over/under for Friday's bowl game at 56.5.
