The NBA and its players reached an agreement early this morning to end the NBA lockout. Ken Berger first broke the wonderful news.
The deal is still pending ratification from both sides but if all goes to plan, training camps will open December 9th along with free agency. The season opener will be on Christmas day, December 25th, and a 66 game season will be played.
The Mavericks can officially begin their quest to repeat and it feels good to know they will finally raise the banner come Christmas.
The scheduled triple header for that day?
Boston Celtics at New York Knicks
Miami Heat at Dallas Mavericks
Chicago Bulls at Los Angeles Lakers
Delicious.
The details of the CBA haven't fully trickled out yet and it will undoubtedly include some stringent sanctions on teams above the luxury tax which will effect the Mavericks and Mark Cuban. Although the early whispers are that the Mavericks will still be able to re-sign Tyson Chandler which is great news. We'll focus on what this CBA means for the defending champs soon enough but for now...
Basketball is back.
