Baylor Basketball Final Score: Baylor Escapes San Diego St., 77-67

Baylor has moved to 3-0 on the young season with a 77-67 victory over San Diego State. Freshman Quincy Miller continued his quick start, hitting for 20 points and six rebounds on 7-12 shooting (5-6 from the line), to lead the way. Brady Heslip, Quincy Acy and Anthony Jones were also in double figures for the Bears, who held SDSU to 35.6% shooting and forced 21 turnovers.

Chase Tapley carried the load for the visitors, hitting 10-17 and 8-10 from beyond the arc. Tapley’s 28 led just four players who scored more than four points.

The Bears have to navigate the first five games of their schedule without star sophomore Perry Jones III, and the win over the Aztecs, a Sweet 16 participant last spring, likely gets them over that hurdle undefeated. They topped Texas Southern and Jackson State over the weekend and have South Carolina State and UT-Arlington next week.
